Bondo University College Council is looking for dynamic, visionary and result oriented people to fill the following positions.

DEPUTY PRINCIPAL

BUC/1/2011: DEPUTY PRINCIPAL (PLANNING, ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCE)

Duties and responsibilities:

The Deputy Principal, Planning, Administration and Finance will be the principal assistant to the University College Principal and will be in charge of Planning, Administration and Finance (PAF) Division. The Deputy Principal (PAF) shall be the head of Planning, Administration and Finance Division, whose primary functions include: development and preparation of human resources requirements, preparation of developmental activities and preparation of institutional budgets. Overseeing both personnel and financial sections of the University College. The Deputy Principal (PAF) will also assist Principal in co-coordinating health care; transport; registry functions; estate and secretarial services within the College. The successful candidate shall be responsible for ensuring that the administrative departments operate effectively and efficiently in line with Vision and Mission of the University College. Under the direction of the Principal, the Deputy Principal (PAF) will ensure that the planning, administrative and financial functions evolve into pillars of excellence within the University.

DEPUTY PRINCIPAL

BUC/2/2011: (, INNOVATION AND OUTREACH)

Duties and responsibilities:

The Deputy Principal, Research, Innovation and Outreach will be the principal assistant to the University College Principal and will be in charge of Research, Innovation and Outreach (RIO) Division. The Deputy Principal (RIO) shall be the head of Research, Innovation and Outreach Planning, whose primary functions include: co-ordination of university wide research and consultancies; co-ordination of innovation and outreach activities; development and implementation of intellectual property rights as well as overseeing linkages and partnerships with other institutions with the University College. The successful candidate shall be responsible for ensuring that the research, innovation and outreach departments operate effectively and efficiently in line with Vision and Mission of the University College. Under the direction of the Principal, the Deputy Principal (RIO) will ensure that the research, innovation and outreach functions evolve into pillars of excellence within the University College.

Qualifications and experience for the Deputy Principals:

Applicants should:

• Be Professors or Associate Professors who have at least 7 years experience in senior management positions with outstanding and internationally recognized scholarship record.

• Demonstrate competence in administrative and academic leadership in academic/research environment.
• Have a track record of success and performance characterized by visionary and strategic thought, rapid growth and service delivery as well as translation of ideas into value outputs.
• Have the capacity to motivate and influence staff, students and other stakeholders.
• Demonstrate evidence of outstanding ability to communicate effectively and good interpersonal skills.
• Show good understanding and commitment to the University coupled with a passion for the promotion of

learning, excellence in teaching, research and innovation with the highest ethical standards, integrity and professionalism.

• Have skills, capacity and determination to initiate and facilitate the development of relevant and quality society driven academic programmes.

POSITIONS IN RESPECTIVE DIVISIONS AND SCHOOLS

1. OFFICE OF THE PRINCIPAL

BUC/3/2011 PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER-GRADE 12

The Applicant must have:

Masters in Communication Studies or equivalent or

Degree in Journalism and Media Studies or equivalent

Five (5) years relevant experience in a University setting or equivalent Proficiency in ICT skills

Be a member of a professional body

BUC /4/2011 SECURITY OFFICER-GRADE 8

The applicant must have:

Bachelor’s degree with at least three (3) years experience as Security officer in relevant institutions.

Trained in security work in Kenya Police or equivalent and should be at the rank of Sergeant or above or its equivalent.
Integrity with ability to supervise staff and carry out routine security investigation work.
Should be prepared to work during odd hours and on public holidays.
Should be both physically and mentally fit and demonstrate evidence of good conduct.

BUC/5/2011: AUDIT ASSISTANTS-GRADE 7/8

The applicant must have:

A Bachelors degree in Accounting/ Finance or equivalent Passed CPA-II

At least three (3) years of relevant experience in a University setting, parastatals or equivalent Proficiency in Computer Aided Auditing Techniques (CAATs)

CISA/CIA qualification will be an added advantage

BUC/6/2011 PHOTOJOURNALIST-GRADE 5

The applicant must have:

Diploma in Photography/Journalism from KCCT or KIMC or its equivalent. At least 3 years experience in Photojournalism
Experience in events coordination Proficiency in ICT skills

BUC /7/2011 SECURITY SUPERVISOR-GRADE 5

The applicant must have:

At least K.C.S.E C (plus) or equivalent.

Be proficient in English and Kiswahili Languages
At least three (3) years experience as a Security supervisor Grade IV in a University setting Trained in security work in Kenya police or armed forces

BUC/8/2011: ASSISTANT REGISTRAR (PLANNING) -GRADE 12

The applicant must have:

Bachelors degree in Building Economics; Architecture or Project Planning and Management or equivalent from a recognized University.
Worked for 5 years at the level of Senior Administrative Assistant in a University setting or its equivalent Proficiency in ICTskills

BUC/9/2011: MEDICAL OFFICER –GRADE 12

The applicant must have:

MB.Ch.B

Three (3) years experience in a busy clinical/medical post Proficiency in ICT skills

Be registered with Medical and Dentists Practitioners Board

BUC/10/2011: PROCUREMENT OFFICER –GRADE 12

The applicant must have:

A Degree in Commerce, Procurement and Supplies management
Eight years experience with at least 3 years relevant experience in Management in a University or its equivalent
A Diploma in Procurement and Supplies from a recognized institution

Working knowledge of The Public Procurement and Disposal Act of 2005 and Regulations of 2006 Management skills to run the University College Procurement Department

Be a Member with Kenya Institute of Supplies Management.

BUC/11/2011: SENIOR ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT -GRADE 10

The applicant must have:

Bachelors degree preferably in Public Administration or Business Management Passed CPS-II or equivalent
Worked for 5 years at the level of Administrative Assistant in a University setting or equivalent Proficiency in ICT skills

BUC/12/2011: STORES CONTROLLER –GRADE 10

The applicant must have:

Bachelors’ degree in Economics, Commerce/ Procurement and Supplies Management option or equivalent qualifications.
Diploma in Procurement and Supplies Management from CIPS (UK) or CPA-II or equivalent

Five (5) years experience as a stores controller in Grade 8/9 in a University setting or equivalent Working experience of modern Stores Management Techniques

Proficiency in ICT skills

BUC/13/2011: ASSISTANT TRANSPORT & PLANT OFFICER-GRADE 9

The Applicant must have:

Bachelors degree in Transport /Fleet Management or Mechanical Engineering with 3 years relevant experience

A Higher National Diploma (Auto-motive) with at least five (5) years relevant working experience within a University setting or its equivalent

BUC /14/2011 SENIOR LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST-GRADE 9

The applicant must have:

Degree or Higher National Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) 3 years experience in a busy laboratory

Higher Laboratory analytical Skills Proficiency in ICT skills

The applicant must have:

Degree in Pharmacy

Five (5) years experience gained in a large hospital or equivalent. Proficiency in ICT skills

BUC/16/2011: SECRETARIES-GRADE 8/9/10

The applicant must have:

At least KCSE Grade C+ (plus) or equivalent with a score of C+ (plus) in both English and Kiswahili languages.

Business English III, Commerce II, Office Management III, Short hand III – Minimum 120 wpm or Audio Typewriting 60 wpm.

Diploma in Business Administration or equivalent
Working Knowledge of Word Processing, Spreadsheets and Data Base Management packages. Three (3) years experience in a University setting or equivalent

Knowledge of Anti-virus Tools

BUC /17/2011 REGISTERED NURSE-GRADE 8

The applicant must have:

A degree in Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing) Be a Kenya Registered Nurse (KRN)
Three (3) years experience as Kenya Registered Nurse or Four (4) years pre-service training at the University for B.Sc. Holders

BUC/18/2011 DRIVERS/MECHANICS-GRADE 7

The applicant must have:

At least KCSE C (plain) or equivalent A clean driving license Class ABCE
Passed in Artisan Test grade I and a certificate in First Aid

Experience in maintenance and servicing of motor vehicle/mechanical plants At least five (5) years driving experience with a clean record of service

BUC/19/2011 WATER PLANT TECHNICIAN-GRADE 7

The applicant must have:

At least KCSE C (minus) or equivalent.

Diploma or certificate in Water Technology from Kenya Water Institute or its equivalent Minimum three (3) years working experience in water treatment and distribution systems.

BUC/20/2011: CARETAKER –GRADE 6

The applicant must have:

At least KCSE Grade C (plain) or equivalent Certificate in Property Management

Minimum 3 years experience.

A Clean employment and criminal record Proficiency in ICT skills
Those with security background and Disaster preparedness training will have an added advantage.

BUC/21/2011: HOUSE-KEEPER- GRADE 6

The applicant must have:

Diploma in House Keeping and Institutional Management from reputable College Three (3) years experience in Hostels Administration
Proficiency in ICT skills

BUC /22/2011 ASSISTANT REGISTRY SUPERVISOR GRADE 5

The applicant must have:

KCSE C (plain) or equivalent with C (plain) scores in English and Mathematics or equivalent

Certificate in Record Keeping or Office Management, KATC final or ACNC or its equivalent. Three (3) years experience as Records Clerk IV

BUC/23/2011 RECORDS CLERK –GRADE 5

The applicant must have:

KCSE C (plain) or equivalent with credits in English and Mathematics or equivalent. CPS II or Diploma in Records Management.
Three (3) years experience as Records Clerk at Grade A/B Proficiency in ICT skills

BUC/24/2011 TELEPHONE OPERATOR GRADE 4

The applicant must have:

At least KCSE C plain or equivalent with C (plain) scores in English and Kiswahili Language

Must have passed Occupational Trade Test Grade II (PMBX) Course conducted by DPM, KP&TC (KCCT) Central Training School or any other recognized institution.

Must have at least three (3) years experience as Telephone Operator Grade IV Proficiency in ICT skills

BUC/25/2011: OFFICE ASSISTANTS -GRADE 4

The Applicant must have:

At least KCSE C (plain) or equivalent.

Certificate in Business Administration or equivalent. Knowledge to operate office equipment.
Two (2) years relevant experience in Grade 3 Proficiency in ICT skills

BUC/26/2011: ARTISAN –CARPENTER, MASON, PAINTER, PLUMBER -GRADE 4

The applicant must have:

At least KCSE Certificate or equivalent and GTT II or Craft I certificate with three (3) years experience.

KCPE level and Grade II OR Craft I certificate with at least 5 years experience shall be considered Proficiency in ICT skills

3. RESEARCH, INNOVATION AND OUTREACH DIVISION

BUC/27/2011: ASSISTANT REGISTRAR GRADE 12

The applicant must have:

A in Economics or Project Planning or related field. Professional qualification in management areas will be preferred.
CPS (II) or its equivalent.

Worked for 5 years at the level of Senior Administrative Assistant in a University setting or its equivalent.

Proficiency in ICT skills

BUC/28/2011: DEPUTY UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN GRADE 14
The Applicant must have:

Masters Degree in Library Sciences or equivalent
Eight (8) years experience five of which should be in Management in a University setting or equivalent
Working Experience in modernization of modern ICT
degree, evidence of Research in Librarianship will be an added advantage

In addition the applicant must; have at least five (5) years of University teaching at the level of Associate Professor; have successfully supervised at least four (4) Masters students and (1) PhD student since being appointed Associate Professor; show evidence of continuing scholarship, research, including having published at least four (4) articles in refereed journals since being appointed Associate Professor; show evidence of having successfully applied for grants/research projects; show evidence of attendance and contribution at learned conferences, seminars or workshops; show evidence of active participation in community outreach programmes, departmental activities and good quality teaching. Be conversant with the current trends in the respective discipline and have passion towards innovation.
Associate Professor: The Applicant must be a holder of a PhD degree in a relevant field from a recognized University. In addition the applicant must; have at least five (5) years of University teaching at the level of Senior Lecturer; have successfully supervised at least four (4) Masters students and (1) PhD student since being appointed Senior Lecturer; show evidence of continuing scholarship, research, including having published at least four (4) articles in refereed journals since being appointed Senior Lecturer; show evidence of having successfully applied for grants/research projects; show evidence of attendance and contribution at learned conferences, seminars or workshops; show evidence of active participation in community outreach programmes, departmental activities and good quality teaching. Senior Lecturer: The Applicant must be holder of a PhD degree in a related field from a recognized University; have at least five (5) years of University teaching three (3) of which are, as a full-time lecturer after PhD qualification; have successfully supervised at least three (3) Masters’ students and one (1) PhD student since being appointed lecturer; show evidence of continuing scholarship, research including having published at least three (3) articles in refereed journals since being appointed lecturer ; show evidence of attendance and contribution at learned conferences, seminars or workshops and show evidence of active participation in community outreach programmes, departmental activities and good quality teaching. Be conversant with the current trends in the respective discipline and have passion towards innovation.

Lecturer: The Applicant must be holder of a PhD degree or has successfully defended PhD Thesis in a related field from a recognized University and has published at least one paper in a refereed journal or two (2) papers in international conference proceedings.
Assistant Lecturer: The Applicant must be a holder of a Masters Degree in the relevant or related field from a recognized University. In addition, the applicant should have at least three (3) years teaching experience or part-time teaching experience in a University setting or its equivalent. An applicant who has already registered for a PhD degree in the relevant or related field will have an added advantage.
